At Thayers, we’re happy to report that our facial toners, mists and astringents include the most simple and pure ingredients possible.
If it’s been a minute since you’ve tried a new product and your skincare routine needs the next best thing, then you’ll love our brand-new Thayers pH Balancing Gentle Face Wash with Aloe Vera.
Here’s what you need to know about what it is, how it works and why it is an excellent addition to your daily dose of complexion pampering.
Introducing: Thayers pH Balancing Daily Cleanser
Since 1847, Thayers has offered a versatile line of skincare products to help everyone look and feel their best. But our newest product is one that we’re incredibly excited about.Thayers pH Balancing Daily Cleanser is designed to leave your skin feeling not too oily, not too dry… just right.
As a mild, foaming face cleanser, it contains 5% filet of aloe vera and sodium hyaluronate. The formula is clinically tested to balance skin pH level, leaving you with a complexion that feels softer, refreshed and better moisturized after just a week of use.
It is allergy-tested and ophthalmologist-tested for safety, meaning if you accidentally get a little in your eyes when cleansing after a long day, it isn’t a major concern. (Because who hasn’t, right?)
And, like with our other Thayers skincare products, this new gentle, foaming cleanser is cruelty-free, vegan and paraben-free.
What is pH Balance, and Why Does It Matter?
So, why do we care about balancing the skin’s pH, anyway? From a scientific perspective, pH is a numeric scale that determines whether something is acidic or more alkaline. The pH scale ranges from 1 being the most acidic, to 14 as the most alkaline and 7 as neutral. Having a slightly acidic pH balance is actually good for your complexion because it will protect against things like bacteria, aging and other factors that may damage your skin. However, if your pH is unbalanced, it can cause problems like acne, dry or sensitive skin and an increase in oil production. While that’s a pretty simplistic explanation, balanced pH is something many people aren’t as familiar with. However, its fluctuation is actually very common. But what causes it to change exactly? Well, pretty much anything that comes in contact with your skin can affect your pH balance. For example, things like the environment, alcohol, food, the type of water you have, and even other skincare products with harsh ingredients have an impact.
The end goal is to get your skin’s pH back to it’s normal, slightly acidic range (ideally 5.5), which protects your skin’s acid mantle and keeps other issues like dryness, blemishes and excess oil production from happening.
If you’re wondering how to fix your pH balance, you can start with choosing our Thayers pH Balancing Gentle Face Wash withAloe Vera to help bring your skin to a happy equilibrium.

Why a Balanced Cleanser is a Must-Have in Your Skin Routine
One of the most important parts of fixing your skin’s pH level is selecting products specifically designed for pH balance — including choosing the right cleanser. But let’s first start with what a cleanser is...
Cleansers, especially pH balanced cleansers like ours, are products specifically designed to clean your skin while also soothing and hydrating. They’re often a bit thicker than a typical face wash but offer far more benefits than any bar soap can provide.
However, some products on the market do not address pH balance issues and can even be a little harsh. This is why it is so important to use a gentle cleanser like Thayers pH balancing cleanser in your skincare routine to ensure that not only your cleanser is balanced, but your skin is, too.
Benefits of Thayers pH Balancing Gentle Face Wash with Aloe Vera
As a low pH cleanser, our new Thayers product helps maintain the skin barrier for moisturized, softer and comfortable skin. Not only does it remove and melt away makeup and residue from the skin, but it also works to restore that important pH balance we all need for a better complexion.
The end result? After use, you won’t feel like your skin is oily or greasy. Additionally, it won’t feel stripped, taught, tight, or overly dry.
Cleanser + Toner = The Perfect Match
Looking for the perfect dynamic skincare duo? It’s cleanser and toner, of course. *wink*
As many experts will tell you, following up with a quality toner immediately after cleansing your skin helps lock in moisture and remove any trace remnants of dirt, grime or makeup on your skin.
Granted, if you’re using Thayers pH Balancing Gentle Facial Wash with Aloe Vera you shouldn’t need a second step to ensure your skin feels clean and fresh. But we still recommend choosing one with added ingredients, like rose water or lavender, for all of their added benefits.
Interestingly enough, our new product does not contain our signature USDA-certified organic witch hazel — but there’s a good reason for this. With a cleanser, you don’t necessarily need this ingredient to reap the benefits. Instead, following up with a product like Thayers Facial Toner is a sufficient way to add witch hazel to your skincare routine.
