I have oily skin. What product should I use?

Our Lemon Witch Hazel Astringent is recommended for oily skin with acne. The lemongrass helps aid the healing process.

What is the expiration date on Thayers witch hazel astringents and toners?

All of our witch hazel astringents and toners, except our medicated options, DO NOT have expiration dates. Our witch hazel products are all natural and have a natural preservative (grapefruit seed extract) that does not expire. However, we do recommend usage within two years of opening.

My witch hazel toner/astringent has turned slightly yellow?

Variations in color and clarity within our products can be expected due to the naturally occurring ingredients we use. In addition to being a natural ingredient, Witch Hazel is also a seasonal item, and variations will occur during our cold press process. You can rest assured your Thayers product is still safe to use despite these variations.

What is the difference between astringents and toners?

Our Facial Toners are alcohol free and are for cleansing, moisturizing and toning the skin. Our Astringents are alcohol based and are more suited to those with oily & acne-prone skin to further help control oil production and acne causing bacteria.

If you would like to read more about the differences between our Facial Toners and Astringents, you can read more about this subject HERE.

What is the difference between your Facial Toner and Facial Mist?

There is no difference in formula between Thayers Facial Toners and Facial Mists. The only difference is the delivery system!

What is the difference in the scents you carry?

Overall, our Facial Toners and Astringents are effective at cleansing, toning, moisturizing and balancing the pH level of your skin. However, each of our scents we carry helps to further target specific issues. You can read more about this in our blogpost, Thayers Witch Hazel Pairings.

What are Tannins?

Tannins are what make our Witch Hazel special! They’re naturally occurring substances found in the bark or skin of the Hamamelis Virginiana, AKA witch hazel. Our Witch Hazel undergoes an extraction process similar to brewing tea. This helps retain 195% more tannins. Tannins have mild antioxidant properties, which can help clean, clear, and add a nice glow to your skin.

Watch our video about tannins HERE.

What is the PH level of your Witch Hazel?

The PH level of our Witch Hazel formula is 5-5.5.
