The Clean Curator’s Skincare Routine


 

Good skincare starts at home.

Vanessa Ho of The Clean Curator can definitely agree with that! Lover of clean beauty and skincare, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine, Vanessa dedicates 40 minutes of “me time” to getting herself ready to start her day every morning. She feels that her mornings are a time to get her thoughts and self together before the craziness of her day begins.

AM skincare and beauty routine?

Vanessa begins with a gentle cleanse, followed by a light serum, and she always uses sunscreen. After her sunscreen application, Vanessa applies her daily makeup. She begins with concealer and a spot treatment, followed by a powder. From there, she applies her blush, eyebrow enhancer, eyeliner, and mascara. This usually takes her about 30-40 minutes.

PM skincare and beauty routine?

Her routine begins with Thayers Witch Hazel Citrus Body Bar in the shower. She then cleanses and tones her skin with Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner. Two- three times a week she will do a powder cream facial mask, part of her new Korean beauty regime obsession. She likes to add Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner to the mask instead of water, and a touch of honey. The mask is an additional detox step. Then she moves onto a lotus water mask. After her masks she moves on to an Aveda concentrate and artichoke essence lotion to calm her skin. Vanessa then uses a skin aloe, followed by a facial oil spot treatment for acne, essential oils, and lastly hydrocell.

When did you start using natural skincare products?

Vanessa began using natural products about 2 ½ years ago. There was no life changing event. One day she was browsing Instagram and came across natural beauty bloggers. Inspired by the bloggers, she noticed these bloggers did not need a lot of chemicals in their products. Vanessa found that she liked the healthier options better and was intrigued to give them a try since she was going to be studying holistic health.

Beauty tips to help your skin?

Drink a lot of water to hydrate your skin! Vanessa’s diet is mostly plant-based with white meat and salmon. She also enjoys massaging her face with oil, it helps with circulation. She also uses Chinese herbs, custom formula, and detox to balance out her skin after a long week.
